Open Awards
4 Person Canoe Divisions: Open Awards will be given to the first 3 four person teams in the canoe
race.
3 Person Kayak Divisions: There will be 3 Open Awards in the
kayak division.
Tandem Division: There will be 3 Open division awards in the tandem division.
Teams placing in the Open division will not place in the age group categories below. That is, there will be no duplication of awards.
Additionally, age group awards for all divisions will be awarded as shown below.
Awards in Team age group categories
Awards will be made to the top 3 teams in each category.
The average (whole number) of all team members' ages on race day determines the age group.
For example, a 4 person team of 3 women and one man, ages 40, 40, 40 and 39 have an average age of 39.75.
That team would be in the Mixed 18-39 category (not 40-59).

In response to interested racers, paddleboarders, we are offering a Solo Division.
Run/Bike/Paddle
K-2 Team division
4 Person teams: Runner, Biker, and 2 Paddlers with a 2-Person Kayak, all ages/ genders.
Standup Paddleboard Division -
3 person Paddleboard Teams, all ages/ genders.
Memorial Awards
These special memorial awards will be presented on Great Race Day to honor athletes in the race and supporters of the race:
- The Jule Verdi Award, presented to the first 4 person (canoe) team.
- The Bill Michaels Award
, presented to the first female and first male runner to finish.
- The Brian Hanley Memorial Award, presented to the first all female 4 person (canoe) team.
- The Geri Read Award, presented to the first all female 3 person (Kayak) team.
- The Paul Ringwood Senior Memorial Award, presented to the first place finisher in the Family Category in the canoe race.
- The Newman Award, presented to the oldest (average age) 4 person canoe team to finish.
- The Bonnie Foster Dello Stritto Award, presented to the youngest team to finish the race (canoe or kayak).
- The "Big John" Connors Award, presented to an outstanding Great Race volunteer or group of volunteers.
- The Frank Ruggiero Memorial Scholarship awarded to a deserving college bound Great Race athlete or volunteer.
