Privacy policy
How we use the information you share with the Great Race.
Information we collect
We collect information needed to administer registrations, waivers, payments, team-finder requests, donations, sponsorships, and messages sent through this website. This can include contact details, racer and team details, shirt size, birth date, payment references, and technical information used for security and consent records.
Transactional email
We use Resend to deliver registration confirmations, payment and waiver messages, sign-in links, and other service-related email. These messages are part of operating the race and are separate from marketing email.
Marketing email
We use Brevo for newsletters, registration announcements, deadline reminders, and post-race updates. We add you to the marketing list only when you request it and confirm through the email Brevo sends. We record the request and confirmation so we can honor your preferences. We do not automatically subscribe historical registration addresses.
Advertising measurement
To understand which announcements and ads lead to registrations, this website can set a single first-party cookie when you arrive from a link that identifies its source (for example a Facebook post or ad). The cookie records how you reached the site — such as the campaign or post the link belonged to and the page you landed on — for up to 30 days, and is readable only by this website. It does not track you on other websites and is not shared with advertising platforms. If you complete a paid registration while advertising measurement is active, we may also report that purchase to Meta (Facebook/Instagram) through its Conversions API to measure ad performance; contact details in that report (such as email address) are one-way hashed before sending, and the report never includes payment credentials. If you accept advertising cookies, we also load the Meta Pixel, which reports page visits and a confirmed-registration Purchase event to Meta and may set Meta advertising cookies such as browser and click identifiers. The browser and server Purchase reports use the same event identifier so Meta can deduplicate them. The Pixel does not load when you decline.
Website analytics
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use this website and where the registration process can be improved. Google Analytics records page views and high-level events such as viewing registration, donation, or sponsorship options; starting checkout; completing a purchase; and successfully completing a contact, volunteer, newsletter, team-finder, or waiver action. We do not send names, email addresses, street addresses, racer form answers, or payment credentials to Google Analytics. Google advertising storage, signals, and ad personalization remain disabled. The Google Analytics tag does not load when you decline analytics cookies.
Traffic and performance measurement
We use Vercel Web Analytics on public website pages and Vercel Speed Insights across the production site to understand aggregate traffic and technical performance. Admin and portal navigation is excluded from public traffic totals. These services do not receive registration form answers or payment credentials from us.
Sharing and retention
We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the race and website, including PayPal, Brevo, Resend, Vercel, our database provider, Google Analytics for consented website analytics, and — for hashed advertising measurement described above — Meta (Facebook and Instagram). We do not sell personal information. We retain registration and consent records for operational, historical, legal, and suppression-list purposes; attribution records are kept with the registration they belong to, and the measurement cookie itself expires after 30 days.
Your choices
Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe option. Brevo suppression events are synchronized back to our database so an address is not silently re-added. You can accept or decline Google Analytics and Meta advertising measurement separately, and reopen Cookie settings in the footer to change either choice. Declining does not affect registration or other site features. To ask about, correct, or delete personal information, email info@great-race.com. Some registration and financial records may need to be retained.
